Little Oaks and future Grade Ones recently enjoyed a joyful orientation morning where they were introduced to their new learning environments and class teachers. The Grade 1 class of 2022 had a special morning with their new teacher. They got to meet Thrasscot, the Teddy Bear, our Oakhill Foundation Phase Mascot who will become an integral part of their reading, writing, phonics and learning journey next year. They learnt to read their first 3 words, practiced counting and data collection with the help of some yummy, gummy bears, created 3D bears out of play-doh, used teddy-bear maths counters to practice their patterning skills and iced and decorated their own little teddy bear biscuits, all the while becoming familiar with their exciting, new classroom environment.
We enjoyed our ‘beary’ busy morning together and Mrs Frost can’t wait to welcome you all back in the new year!
