Our Campus

Oakhill’s academic campus rests on the hillside overlooking the spectacular Knysna estuary. The school is a whole school, catering for all age groups on the same campus – Little Oaks is our Pre-prep School, with Grades 000 to R; Oakhill Prep School caters for Grades 1 to 7 and Oakhill College Grades 8 to 12 (Matric).

Our academic facilities are designed to provide a healthy and inspiring environment that fosters well-being, creativity and the joy of learning. Layout and flow with the classrooms encourage pupils to become actively involved in their learning experience, but teaching and learning is not limited to the classroom. Outdoor facilities on campus, and educational excursions also provide our pupils with an experiential learning experience.

The academic campus is also currently home to Oakhill’s swimming and water polo pool, as well as multi-functional courts. The majority of sport, however, takes place at the Oakhill Sports Campus (OSC), which is situated close to the school on 17 hectares of land in the rural suburb of Welbedacht. The campus includes a state-of-the-art water-based Astroturf, as well as hockey, rugby, soccer, cricket and netball fields, with the construction of additional tennis and netball courts currently in planning. Further development at the OSC will include the building of an aquatics centre housing a 50m swimming and water polo pool. This phase will also include a state-of-the-art indoor facility housing a gym and indoor cricket nets.

The town of Knysna and the Garden Route in general are our broader ‘playground’ campus. Here pupils can indulge in almost every outdoor activity imaginable in our beautiful forests, mountains, nature reserves, lakes, lagoons, rivers and ocean! Pupils have historically actively participated in hiking, trail running, mountain biking, horse riding, kloofing, fishing, sailing, paddling, canoe polo, surfing and bodyboarding.

The Oakhill Clothing Shop is located next to the lower parking area, and all school uniform and sports garments required by the school can be purchased here. Our second-hand shop, offering good quality used uniforms at reduced prices, is located next to the Clothing Shop.
