Functions & Events Coordinator

Full time position

Oakhill School, a co-educational day school situated in the beautiful town of Knysna, on the Garden Route, seeks to appoint someone responsible for the management and coordination of all internal and external functions and events including special occasions and fundraising.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Adopt and display high standards of professional conduct

  • Be proficient in events management and office administration
  • Have exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Be highly organised, methodical and thorough
  • Have the ability to multi-task, stay calm under pressure, prioritise and be flexible

  • Be fully computer literate in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and possess database management experience. Experience with Google Forms, Sheets and Docs would be advantageous as will Corel Draw, or the like.
  • Be suitably qualified to carry out respective responsibilities with a minimum of a Matric certificate; further qualifications ideally in hospitality, service industry or similar, and have appropriate work experience are a strong recommendation
  • Have their own vehicle and valid drivers license

Important Conditions:

  • The requisite working hours are 07h15 – 15h45, Monday to Friday.
  • Due to the nature of the role, it will be a requirement, on occasion, to work after hours and selected Saturdays.
  • This is a non‑academic role. Admin staff work during school holidays and receive 21 days’ annual leave.

Head of Sport (College)

A co-educational day school situated in the beautiful town of Knysna, on the Garden Route, is seeking to appoint a dynamic, passionate and experienced Head of Sport.

Oakhill has built an exciting and innovative sport programme and is looking to appoint a Head of Sport to take this programme to the next level. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual that is committed to developing players, building a strong sporting culture and elevating performance across all age groups.

The successful applicant must:

  • Have a proven track record of coaching, managing and administering school sport
  • Have expertise and experience in at least one of the sport codes offered at Oakhill – experience preferably in water polo and/or hockey
  • Be able to manage an extensive team of coaches and sports administrators
  • Be able to build sound relationships with children, staff and parents
  • Possess well-developed interpersonal and communications skills
  • Possess excellent administration and organizational skills
  • Possess strong leadership skills and decision making skills
  • Have a clear passion and vision for sport that aligns with the Oakhill ethos and culture
  • Have experience and be comfortable with dealing with change
  • Have initiative, energy and be a good motivator and mentor
  • Promote, represent and market Oakhill sport and the school more generally
  • Be prepared to work weekends and holidays as required
  • The ability to support or run additional festivals and tournaments

The following additional skills would be an advantage:

  • SACE (South African Council for Educators) accreditation
  • The ability to teach in the College (High School)
  • The ability to work in the fundraising and sponsorship space
