English Teacher – HOD (Grade 8 -12) – College
Oakhill School, a leading co-educational day school situated in the beautiful town of Knysna, on the Garden Route, seeks to appoint a vibrant, energetic and experienced Head of Department or Teacher for English Home Language in the College to join a team of remarkable quality. The school has an outstanding academic record, with a 100% pass rate in the IEB examination since its inception and 97-100% Bachelor Degree Pass.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Possess a proven academic record and appropriate professional qualification and experience
- Have taught English at IEB Matric level as well as Further Studies English (IEB matric marking would be an advantage)
- Have a current SACE accreditation
- Have a passion for teaching and nurturing a love for the English language with excellent subject knowledge
- Maintain standards of academic excellence and identify areas that require intervention
- Be skilled at facilitating classes with a diversity of needs
- Encourage critical thinking and student engagement
- Be innovative in the use of technology to enhance learning and teaching and use a variety of delivery methods
- Facilitate tailored learning experiences appropriate to the needs and demands for students to reach their true potential
- Possess excellent organisational and administrative skills
- Work collaboratively within the academic team to assess, contemplate, and enhance pedagogical methods
- Create and coordinate curriculum plans collaboratively with appropriate staff
- Create assessments which deepen teaching and learning
- Have the ability to build healthy relationships with students, parents and staff
- Have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Be involved in the school’s co-curricular programme

Head of Hockey, Coach & Teacher (Grade 8-12) – College
Oakhill School, a leading co-educational day school situated in the beautiful town of Knysna, on the Garden Route, is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Head of Hockey, Coach and Teacher (Grade 8-12) to lead and develop the hockey programme in the College. Oakhill School is looking for an individual who not only has a deep understanding and love for Hockey but also possesses the ability to lead, innovate, and grow the programme to new heights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the hockey programme ensuring high levels of participation and competitive success.
- Promote and represent the hockey programme within the school community and externally.
- Teach and mentor students, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
- Coach 1st team Boys or Girls 1st team in the College.
- Organise and oversee training sessions, matches, and tournaments, including weekend and holiday commitments as needed.
- Collaborate and upskill current Hockey staff to enhance the overall hockey level at Oakhill.
- Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
Candidate Requirements:
- A proven track record in coaching Hockey, with experience across various age groups.
- Relevant Hockey qualifications and significant experience.
- A teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed or equivalent)
- SACE (South African Council for Educators) accreditation.
- The ability to teach in the College at a GET and FET phase.
- Able to coach a Summer sport is to the candidates advantage.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- A passion for sports and education, with the ability to inspire and motivate
- Willingness to adapt and manage change within the sporting curriculum.
