Head of Water Polo (College and Prep)

A co-educational day school situated in the beautiful town of Knysna, on the Garden Route, is seeking to appoint a dynamic, passionate and experienced Head of Water Polo to lead and grow the water polo programme. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual that is committed to developing players, building a strong sporting culture and elevating performance across all age groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the full water polo programme from junior to senior teams
  • Plan and implement a clear vision and strategic direction for water polo at Oakhill
  • Coach and mentor players, fostering both performance and personal development
  • Support, develop and guide coaching staff, ensuring alignment with programme goals
  • Coach teams, including a 1st team in the College
  • Organise fixtures, tours and festival participation
  • Coordinate and elevate the Oakhill Waterfront Chukka Festivals, ensuring they remain high-quality, competitive and well-managed events
  • Build strong relationships with the water polo community

The following competencies and knowledge will be an added advantage:

  • A proven track record in coaching water polo and festival coordinating
  • Relevant water polo qualifications and significant experience
  • Strong leadership, organizational and administrative skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • A passion for sports and education, with the ability to inspire and motivate students
  • Willingness to adapt and manage change within the sporting curriculum
  • Coach a winter sport as part of our co-curricular programme

The following additional skills would be an advantage:

  • SACE (South African Council for Educators) accreditation
  • The ability to teach in the College (High School)
  • The ability to work in the fundraising and sponsorship space
  • The ability to support or run additional festivals and tournaments
  • The ability to assist and/or manage the aquatic facilities

Oakhill School, a leading independent co‑educational day school, is seeking independent, part‑time SPORTS COACH SERVICE PROVIDERS to support our growing Prep School (Grade 1–7) sports programme.

External Sport Coaches skilled or have experience in one or mor of the following codes Soccer, Hockey, Rugby, Netball, Athletics, Cricket, Tennis, Water Polo should apply.

We are looking to contract part‑time coaching service providers across sporting codes who can meet children at their level of development and inspire them through every phase of their sporting journey.

The ideal service provider:

  • Has experience coaching or working within a school environment
  • Brings positive energy and professionalism
  • Values relationships and athlete‑centred coaching
  • Understands long‑term athlete development
  • Wants to contribute to a modern and forward‑thinking sports culture
  • Believes sport can be a powerful platform for growth and character development
