Student Leadership

Student Leadership

As part of our commitment to prepare students for life, Oakhill has a progressive and diverse leadership system that doesn’t focus on the traditional prefect approach. Our four leadership arms include the Senior Executive Council (SEC), Student Representative Council (SRC), Leadership Portfolios, House Captains and Interact, which allow for varied leadership opportunities and growth across multiple grades.

All forms of leadership incorporate democratic election, skills-based selection, collaboration and mentorship.

The Senior Executive Council (SEC) – the most senior leadership within their College. Elected at the leadership seminar the Grade 11 students students and College Staff select whom they believe embody all the characteristics of a values-driven servant leader to represent the College.

The Oakhill Student Representative Council (SRC) is the pupil-elected voice of the student body at Oakhill – a student-orientated, approachable institution which represents the students and their overall interests and needs by providing a link between pupils, staff and the management structure. The SRC initiates and encourages individuality, critical thinking and self-confidence, and upholds the values of tolerance and respect, encompassing all that is the “Joy of Learning”.

Both the SRC and SEC will oversee the successful functioning of these structures. They will represent the School at high profile events and will lead the weekly assemblies and forge links with our Preparatory School.

Oakhill’s Interact Club is affiliated with Rotary International and organizes various projects throughout the year to help support those in need in our community. While this helps to make a difference in both our school and community, it also allows the students to discover new cultures and promote understanding, as well as encouraging leadership within the school and community. Interact is all about servant leadership, and putting service above self.

The criteria for these awards are outlined in our Service to School Policy document
