Our Grade 11 Life Science students have been learning all about Population Ecology and recently had a wondefully productive field trip to Tenikwa, where they were taken on a guided walk through the forest. So much valuable information was shared with them about the plant and animal life!
They then went on to complete a quadrat sampling activity, where they had to estimate the population size of mushrooms in the forest, as well as one plant and one animal species which they found in their specific quadrat.
The students all immersed themselves in the activity, and were able to put what they had learnt in the classroom into good practice. We love takimg every opportunity to add practical applications to the theory we learn!
