How many people are aware of the lovely, most peaceful nature reserve right here in Knysna town?
Previously it was used as a quarry for gravel needed to build the town’s street, a brickfield and thereafter as a dumping ground that resulted in the pollution of the Knysna Estuary. In 1991 this area was declared as the Pledge Nature Reserve.
The Grade R’s were most enthralled with all the natural treasures to be found during our hike. Philipp Buchsenstein our endearing and knowledgeable guide from the Botanical Society, provided us with many opportunities to listen, touch, smell and even suck nectar from the beautiful Protea Sugarbush flower.
An amazing adventure right on our doorstep!
