Oakhill Service with Sandwiches

Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.

Nelson Mandela

67 minutes were dedicated by each of our Grade 8 & 9 students on Mandela Day towards preparing 670 sandwiches per grade for those less fortunate. A total of 1300 sandwiches were prepared for local soup kitchens.

Oakhill partnered with KILT (Knysna Initiative for Learning and Teaching) and their associates, ECHO including Lion’s International, to distribute the 1300 sandwiches to children and adults in need in Keurhoek, Nekkies and Hornlee soup kitchens on Tuesday. Other than dedicating their time to making the sandwiches, the students joined the soup kitchens in the community to hand out the sandwiches.

Oakhill’s students appreciated the importance of assisting similar efforts whenever possible. It was a wonderful day of caring and service to others.
