Oakhill takes great pride in our Music Department and that we are also a Trinity Music examination center for the region. Music and song filters across our campus daily – with early morning music band sessions for both the IP (Grade 4-7) and College (Grade 8-12), three active choirs, as well as ongoing private tuition of 16 different instruments to many students throughout the school!
Music is also an option as an additional academic and practical subject from Grade 10 to Grade 12. The requirements to qualify with IEB certification at Matric level being a Grade 7 Practical and a Grade 6 Theory exam successfully completed.
Oakhill Matrics, Grace Ash, and Dennis Zhu completed this journey at the end of their Grade 11 last year. Dennis completed Grade 8, Piano and Grace Grade 7, Piano. We would also like to congratulate Justien Kieswetter (Matric 2022) who also met the requirements with a 70% aggregate.
In 2022, four of the Grade 10 students, achieved excellent results during their external practical examination. Conan Marais, completed Grade 5 Drumming, with merit. Jana van Wageningen and Liam Nelson both completed Grade 7 Piano, with merit. Keira Reynolds, completed Grade 6 Piano, with merit.
Currently, there are seven Grade 11’s preparing for their final exams during 2023, of which four of them will be completing their Grade 8 Practical Piano exams!
