Oakhill Cricketers make History

Oakhill Cricket is in a great space and making resounding progress.  For the first time in history, two Oakhill students, Joshua Pieters and Chris Marrow, were selected for the u19 Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week that was held in Potchefstroom.  They were also both selected for the u19 SWD three-day side. Joshua Pieters took the 3rd most wickets in the u19 tournament and was very unlucky  not to be selected for SA Schools. Thomas Marrow also played in the Provincial u17 team where he scored the most runs in the week and as a result has been selected for the SWD u19 three-day side. All three Oakhill boys performed well against Border in their 9 wicket win: Josh Pieters 6 wickets, Chris Marrow 51 and Thomas Marrow 37……what a contribution from the Oakhill trio!

Subsequently, Josh Pieters has gone to Cape Town and has been selected for the Western Province Cricket Club 1st Team and will go overseas to play professional Cricket in early April. Thomas and Chris Marrow continue to lead from the front, assisted by fantastic performances from Liam Botha, JJ Strydom and a number of up-and-coming youngsters.

The highlights to date include a comprehensive 8 wicket victory against Glenwood House in the quarter-finals of the National Coca Cola Pro 20 Competition and a narrowly loss to Oakdale Agricultural College in the last over of the semi-finals.

For the first time in Oakhill history, and only in our second year of playing in the Super League, the 1st XI find themselves 3rd on the log and ready to play in the Limited Overs semi-final.

With the u15A team entering the Super League in September, Oakhill is becoming a major cricketing force in the province.
