Oakhill Adventure Race

With an eye on the Schools’ Adventure Racing National Championships in KZN in October, the Oakhill Adventure Racing teams have been training very hard during the past few weeks. On Saturday, 10th September the teams competed in an Adventure Race co-hosted by Oakhill and Montessori. 17 teams from Glenwood, Montessori and Oakhill took part in this exciting race.

The race disciplines were a combination of running, mountain biking, swimming and paddling while looking for checkpoints. On route and to earn points, teams had to complete various activities, as in abseiling, jumping off a bridge, constructing paper planes to fly through a tyre, navigating across a river, to name but a few! The Oakhill teams showed their strength by winning the Junior and Senior categories. The Open Category was won by the Glenwood teachers’ team of Claire McAuliffe and James Stead.

Congratulations to all the winning teams and a sincere thank you to all who participated and finished the race and to all who assisted in pulling it together.

A special thank you to Kyle Langman of Oakhill and Steve Williams of Montessori, who put this exciting race together. Everybody had lots of fun and we look forward to an even bigger race next year.
