During the July 2011 school holidays, the Wittedrift School Hostel came alive with the arrival of the Percy Mdala High School matric learners. This was their home, eating place and study haven for 3 days.
The fresh chilly mornings dawned and each day, a challenging and exciting program of study skills, motivational speakers, outdoor activities, explosive Science experiments, creative antics, healthy meals, an outing to the Knysna Elephant Park and the challenging revision lessons facilitated by our Specialist Oakhill College Teachers filled the days.
The 3 days of intense learning and new experiences was a new and innovative programme initiated by our local Circuit 4 of the Department of Education Western Cape and the Oakhill College Teachers were proud to be part of this intervention. The matric learners asked for more and left Wittedrift equipped to face the challenges of their year-end exams.
More came … During four Saturday Spring Mornings, the students visited the Oakhill campus for further subject revision and a mid-morning snack. Again, the disciplined students focused, questioned and consolidated their knowledge knowing that higher grades are achievable.
We wish all the Percy Mdala Matric students well as they prepare for their final Matric exams.
