Hannah Verrier (Grade 10) travelled to New Zealand in the July school holidays for the Pan Pacific Youth Water Polo Festival. Hannah represented South Africa as a goalkeeper in the U16 South African Girls team. This young team played two matches every day for two weeks – the first week as part of an U16 tournament and the second week competing in the U18 tournament. The team did extremely well to place 8th in the U16 division, and 11th in the U18 division, both comprising of 24 teams. Says Hannah, “We competed with incredibly talented and well-conditioned teams, such as North Harbor (who won Pan Pacs two years ago) and New South Wales Blues (most of their players play for Australia U16 or even the women’s team). I have learned so much from my incredible coach and my experienced teammates and I’m so grateful to have played for my country.”
