The Grade 11 Life Science students have been studying the circulatory system with a particular focus on the structure and function of the heart. They have covered the anatomy as well as the electrical conduction system, even getting an introduction into the basic understanding of ECGs.
In their recent practical lesson, they saw the much anticipated dissection of the heart, which allows all the two-dimensional theory to come to life in 3D! This really gives the Grade 11s a proper understanding of all that they have learnt in theory. Although initially a little squeamish, it wasn’t long before they were all wholeheartedly in awe of what was unfolding in front of them!
They even got to witness the physical origins of the saying ‘it tugs on the heartstrings’ Well done, Grade 11s! There certainly are some budding cardiothoracic students among you!
