Fun in the Sciences

Our College pupils enjoyed some exciting experiments in the sciences this week, creating and measuring concoctions of various kinds. In Grade 10 Life Sciences, learners extracted DNA from fruit. They had to make extracting solution, pulp fruit and add everything together along with methylated spirits to precipitate the DNA. The bananas, apples, naartjies and pears created some interesting colour variations!
