Easter Break Sporting Achievements

Easter Break Sporting Achievements

Our young sportsmen and women enjoyed a busy and successful Easter break, attending various events and trials in addition to our own Independent Schools’ Hockey Festival at the Sports Campus.

Here is a summary of their achievements:

Adventure Sports

Jason Campbell

  • Ironman Corporate Challenge held in PE: finished 3rd overall.
  • ITU World Triathlon Cape Town:  placed 8th overall and 6th in his start group. This event has competitors from all over the world.

Amy Williams

  • Amy took part in the SA Cup Series as well as the Junior World Cross Country series in Lesotho and raced at over 3000m.  She secured a 2nd place podium position.
  • She is off to race at Mankele in Nelspruit in two weeks’ time. Amy is currently ranked 5th in the UCI World Rankings for Cross Country.

1st XI Boys Hockey Team

Oakhill vs Bishops 2-0 win
Oakhill vs St Andrew’s Bloemfontein 3-1 win
Oakhill vs Somerset College 1-1 draw
Oakhill vs St Andrew’s Grahamstown 3-3 draw
Oakhill vs Upldands College 0-2 loss

 

SWD Hockey Trials

The following Oakhill hockey players have made the SWD Boys  Hockey Teams:

U18A  Caleb Bell, Chris Marrow, Greg Cuthbert and Rayne Davis
U18B  Ben Giliomee
U16A  Sam Mvimbi, Steven Campbell, Jake Turner, Todd Walker, Scott Armstrong
U16B  Nic Thomson and Nic Reid
U16C Dimitri Papgis, Ben Pama and Jayden Julien
U14A Kevin Laughton and Logan Tait

The following girls went through to the final round of trials. Final girls teams have not yet been announced.

U18  Cara Eyre
U16  Anna Reid and Morgan Watson
U14  Gemma Killian, Kelly Dawkins, Madison Solomon and Michaela Vogt
