Building Meaningful Friendships

There are many opportunities throughout the year for our pupils to connect and get to know one another outside of the classroom. The Grade 8 camp at the end of last term was one of these special occasions. The theme for this year’s Grade 8 camp was “The Joy of Learning Together” and the group followed a programme titled the ‘Ingwe journey’. This programme emphasised teamwork and individuals’ role as an effective team member. An obstacle course encouraged students to work together to form an effective team. Students were encouraged to step out of their comfort zones, challenging themselves both physically and emotionally. Through mud obstacle courses, buddy system challenges and drumming workshops. It was a great success for the Grade 8s as they established deep and meaningful relationships with each other, the matrics that joined them for their beach walk and staff.
