Bravery in Saving a Life

Knysna Rotary congratulated and awarded two local boys with the Rotary Bravery and Service certificates for their prevention of a man drowning at Buffalo Bay in November last year.

Oakhill Grade 8 pupil Tristan Gaylard-Ralfe and Nathan van de Griendt, who is home schooled, were surfing at Murphy Point when they became aware of a swimmer in distress. Their fast thinking and action prevented a near-drowning and saved the man’s life.

Thank you to our local Rotarians – Incoming President George Coon, Youth Committee Chairman Julie Staub, and Interact Rotarian Lesley Satchel – for acknowledging their service to community and bravery.
