Art Exhibition Opening

Oakhill Prep pupils had a unique and very special opportunity to exhibit at the prestigious Knysna Fine Art Gallery, Thesen House last week. The opening of their exhibition for the pupils and their families was a joyous occassion. The exhibition was then open to the public for two days thereafter.

The art on display was created by Oakhill’s Grade 4-7 children with exciting themes such as “What’s Inside Inside My Head” by the Grade 7 pupils. The youngest exhibitors, in Grade 4 also contributed to the exhibition with a line drawing of “My Shoes”. There were also some interesting themes around Knysna and my surroundings.

Oakhill Prep art teacher, Rose Hobson shared that the emphasis of their artwork has been on self discovery, reflection and experimentation of different mediums. There are drawings, paintings as well as the exciting medium of sculpture which Oakhill is fast becoming renowned in. This celebration of the joy of creativity was evident in the images that have been produced by these young talented pupils.

Sincere thanks to Knysna Fine Art Gallery and Trent Read for their continued support of Oakhill and for affording us the opportunity to celebrate the creative arts! Our community greatly appreciates this wonderful experience for the children to feel like true artists and have a real sense of pride in their wonderful pieces.
