African Safari Adventure

The Grade 1 design and technology project for their African Animal theme involved the construction of a mini game reserve. There was much excitement as the children planned their ideas, sourced materials with their parents, and then constructed their reserves completely by themselves at school. All the collaboration, problem-solving, creativity and thinking that took place resulted in the most wonderful mini game reserves!

The Grade 1 pupils then culminated their African Animal thematic learning in integrated, cross-curricular style, experiencing animals in their natural habitat while on a game drive. The beautiful clear winter’s day and knowledgeable guide made this a wonderfully rich learning experience. The children were able to build on all the knowledge, facts and animal information they have gained during the past term, and bring it to life. Thank you Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve for hosting us!
