Congratulations to all our Oakhill pupils who participated in this weekend’s SA Schools Adventure Racing Championships in the Eastern Cape! Oakhill students represented two junior teams, and one senior team, with the Junior teams completing a 60km course (5km kayak, 32 km cycle, 20km trek) and the seniors an 80km course (7km kayak, 50km cycle, 20km trek).
‘The Painted Cubs’, consisting of Mark Canny, Kate Tanner, Ben Tyrrell and Andrea Collins from Montessori, was the first Junior team in; while Dylan Hemmes, with two GBC pupils, of ‘The Bike Shop’ team came in 7th. Jess Devine, James Devine, Michael Hankins and Cameron McCall, who formed ‘The Knysna Oaks’ team, ended an impressive fourth overall in the Senior category.
A fantastic achievement and experience for our young adventure racers!
