Achievements for Opening Assembly: Term 1

ADVENTURE SPORTS

Mikayla was invited to attend a Cycling South Africa Track Training camp being held at the Bellville Velodrome for Junior riders from 10-16 December.  She did exceptionally well and thoroughly loved it.  She will be going to Track Nationals at the end of March.

She also took part in the Walmer Cycling Clubs annual Criterium 3 day event held at Scribante Raceway in Port Elizabeth from 2-5  January.  She  raced against elite, u23, vet and Open Women and came 2nd  overall.  Mikayla has also been invited to four National Cycling Events this year including Cross Country and Marathon Mountain Biking, Road Cycling and Track.

Well done on outstanding achievements.

The following students represented SWD Cricket at Provincial weeks over the December holidays:

CSA u17 Week in Cape Town

Coca Cola Khaya Majola Week in Potchefstroom

  • Chris Marrow
  • Josh Pieters who was the 3rd leading wicket taker at the week but was unfortunate not to make any sides.

All three of the boys will be playing a 3-Day Match this weekend vs Border in East London, Good luck to them.

SWIMMING

Inter-Provincial Gala Results:

Anola Walk: Achieved 11 x 1st places and 1 x 2nd place.

Burger van Niekerk: Achieved 1 x 1st place, 3 x 2nd places and 1 x 3rd place.

Andrew Vedder: Achieved 1 x 1st place and 1 x 2nd place.

Kendra Underwood: Achieved 4 x 1st places, 1 x 2nd place and 1 x 3rd place.

GOLF

 

Jack Duthie has had an amazing start to the new year by finishing tied 1st at the Junior National Order of Merit at Mowbray last week with 105 of the top juniors in the country competing.  This has improved his ranking to 18th in the country in SA u19 Boys age group.  On Sunday he also qualified to play the SA Strokeplay Champs at Oubaai from 11-15 Feb, this tournament features 144 of the top golfers in SA irrespective of age.

Good luck to Jack for the year as he has a very demanding year ahead of him.
