Today is World Environment Day and it’s fitting to share our Oakhill initiatives as an Eco-School. For the past 12 years, Oakhill School has been a member of the WESSA schools group. WESSA – The Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa is a non-government environmental organisation of South Africa, established in 1926, although its origins go back to the 1890s.
The WESSA annual schools awards event took place in Cape Town over the school holidays. At the celebration, Oakhill was awarded the SILVER DECADE honour as well as there being various mentions of Oakhill’s eco activities on our website. Oakhill was also recognized for including the community in all of its environmental activities. Oakhill continues to incorporate our eco-awareness and action into all aspects of our learning.
