What an amazing lady, eloquent, amusing, dogged and determined and with a real purpose in her life. She dreamt about climbing Everest from the age of 8 years old, as a “dusty little township girl”, in her words, and at the age of 23 years, the opportunity arose and she took it, and as the rookie in that 1996 expedition, she accomplished her dream. She has subsequently conquered the summits of many mountains, and encouraged her audience to “seek out opportunities because they are everywhere”. Deshun also spoke to the “Everest in our lives, whatever that Everest might be”, encouraging us “to seek it and deal with it”.
