Olympic Countdown

The Foundation Phase celebrated the “London Olympics” on Wednesday 20 June at a special assembly for their parents.   An excellent PowerPoint presentation about England was delivered by Toby Tyrrell in Grade 3.  And then ……… great excitement, as the “Olympic torch bearer” and the 2 mascots led the procession of competitors into the hall waving brightly coloured flags from all over the world.  Beautiful dancing followed, representing the symbolic Olympic rings and flag and the various sporting disciplines.  We listened to poems and an energetic rendition of “Stand up for the Champions”.  The meaningful assembly ended with Dads and Moms, Staff and Students gathering on the field to watch  the release of helium balloons in the Olympic colours, which we hoped would fly all the way to London bearing love and good wishes from the Grade 1, 2 and 3 children of Oakhill!

Thank you to Cheryl Wolf, George Potgieter, teachers and all the children for a wonderful end to a very busy and happy term.
