The second round of the South Africa Mathematics Challenge was written last week and two of our Oakhill pupils, Adam Law (Grade 5) and Rafael Carrara (Grade 7) have been invited to write the third and final round, where they will be competing for top honours in George next week Thursday, 8 September. Approximately 432 pupils qualify nationally for the Final Round. This round is written at centralised provincial venues. There are two papers and the Grades 4-5 pupils write the Junior paper and Grades 6-7 pupils write the Senior paper. They have 90 minutes to solve 15 challenging mathematical problems. An important aim with the Final Round is for pupils to interact with others in the context of mathematics. Well done Adam and Rafael – we are very proud of and wish you both best of luck for the finals!
