Last week our Grade 10 pupils embarked on their Odyssey journeys! Seven years ago, the current Grade 10s were in Grade 3 when they watched the very first Odyssey group leave the flagpole and head off on their adventure. To mark the occasion in 2012, teacher Debbie Nicoll and the pupils created a banner with a countdown to when it would be their turn to embark on their very own Odyssey. 2555 days later their time finally arrived. On their departure, Jannie de Villiers encouraged each group to “Enjoy the precious time ahead and make the most of it.” He reminded every pupil to remember, “Growth seldom takes place in one’s comfort zone. What you get out of the journey will largely be determined by our attitude. Keep going. Keep laughing. Keep a diary. Be positive. Be sensible. Be kind. Be safe!”
