Oakhill Cricket on a High

Oakhill Cricketers have been making headlines yet again.
On Thursday 10th February the derby Pro20 Cricket match between Oakhill 1st XI and Knysna High 1st XI took place at the Knysna High fields. Oakhill lost the toss and were put into the field. Knysna High scored a credible 108 for 4 after their allotted 20 overs. The best figures for Oakhill were from James Segers: 3 for 31.
A great game of cricket evolved as Knysna put pressure on the opening pair of Joshua Pieters and Chris Marrow. Both batters showed patience as they edged their way towards the total, Pieters having a chance on the way and Marrow losing blood from a prolific nose bleed due to the heat and humidity. The two opening batters timed their onslaught perfectly as they got home with a couple of overs to spare. Josh Pieters top scoring with a Man-of-the-Match and captains innings of 56 n.o., and well supported by Chris Marrow 26 n.o.
These are two fine young cricketers! It would be advisable to watch this space!
Oakhill U15A played a declaration match vs Glenwood House on Saturday 12th February at Glenwood House. Oakhill won the toss and elected to bat, accumulating an impressive score of 294 for 7: Chris Marrow 68, Caleb Bell 67 and Gerhard Jenneker 40.
The chief destroyer was J.J. Strydom with 5 wickets. He was well supported by Greg Cuthbert with 3 wickets and Liam Botha with 2 wickets. Man-of-the-Match was shared between Chris Marrow and Caleb Bell.
