The Grade 6 classes were given 30 minutes to prepare, cook and plate three random ingredients for NST. They suprised their teachers with their culinary skills and produced some interesting and even tasty dishes!
Groups were judged on taste, presentation and individually they were expected to find out whether the meal would be classed as a high or low glycaemic Index (GI) meal, and they also needed to work out the energy content measured in Kilojoules of the meal.
As one can clearly see, they had lots of fun, learned a lot and got teachers to taste cauliflower, peaches and croissants, not to mention brinjals, baked beans and wheetbix!
