Grade 3’s at Oakhill spend 67 Minutes for Madiba

Having recently celebrated Madiba’s birthday on the 18th July and in keeping with our Life Orientation outcomes, we participated in the ’67 minutes for the community’ initiative. This took place on Thursday 26th and the Grade 3’s went into town to do a litter clean up along our streets. We supplied them with latex gloves and black bags. This was done during the day and took more than 67 minutes of our time, but was such a valuable lesson.

As an ongoing initiative and part of our project, the Grade 3’s will also collect stationary, decorate bags and collate these to donate to disadvantaged children.

‘The overarching objective of Mandela Day is to inspire individuals to take action to help change the world for the better, and in doing so build a global movement for good. Ultimately it seeks to empower communities everywhere. “Take Action; Inspire Change; Make Every Day a Mandela Day.”
