Wishing all South Africans a Happy Heritage Day as this special occasion reminds us of our roots, culture and traditions past, present and future.
Originating from the KwaZulu region celebrating Zulu leader, Skaka on Shaka Day on 24 September – Heritage Day was made a National celebration for all communities with our first-ever democratic SA in 1995. Also called National Braai Day, Shisa Nyama, or Ukosa was celebrated on the same day in 2005 when braai became the meal that marked the occasion.
Make this Braai Day and long weekend a memorable one with family and friends as together we celebrate our culture. Whether it is boerewors, steaks, sosaties or marshmallows on the braai, we hope that it’s a lekker one! To support our community efforts, swipe your MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet card at Woolies this Braai Day and you can make an impact.
You can sign up to MySchool and support Oakhill without costing you anything extra – make every swipe count as we in turn support our community as proud South African citizens!
