Well done to Isla Mills, in Grade 7 who is the Western Cape DRASA Junior Champion as well as the winner of the DRASA Nationals Juniors too!
DRASA (Distance Riders Association of South Africa) is a highly competitive sport involving endurance, horsemanship and pacing. Points are awarded for the condition of the horse, handling by the rider and timing down to the split second.
At 13 years old, Isla and her horse showed incredible resilience riding in the freezing cold, driving rain and wind over a period of 3 days covering over 60kms.
Isla did exceptionally well to not only qualify to compete at this level at this age, but to win the provincial champs. Further, she has done so on a pony she rescued. This achievement is testament to her care and attention to all realms of horsemanship and we are extremely proud of her and her mare, Sadie.
