South Africa celebrates Arbor Week from 1-7 September annually, and this is a time when South Africans of all ages are encouraged to celebrate the beauty and importance of trees. People from all aspects of the community are urged to get involved and thousands are educated and made aware of the benefits of the many different aspects of forestry. This year Oakhill was delighted to receive three trees from Forestry to plant at school to celebrate Arbor Week – 2 Yellowwoods and 1 Milkwood tree. Nokukhanya Mwandla from Forestry arrived to attend a small tree planting ceremony, and the importance of indigenous trees was discussed with the children.
