Oakhill Prep Rugby on the rise!

WP…jou lekker ding…WP… jou lekker ding….

This was certainly the anthem of the weekend, and it was echoed all the way back to Knysna from Cape Town on the bus. Our boys embarked on a journey that was never to be forgotten and always to be referred back to “as the weekend the Blue Bulls drew against the WP at Newlands”.

It was certainly an epic adventure, as our u11 and u13 Rugby teams headed their way into the unknown, in some very questionable weather, I might add. A very first experience for Oakhill to travel such a great distance for the love and passion of Rugby. Our boys were warmly welcomed and hosted by the Elkanah House families and staff and although the boys had to face them the very next day on the rugby field, they had made friendships that would last a life time. The boy’s results spoke chapters on how far Oakhill rugby has come and how far they are willing to go. Results as follows:

U11 Oakhill 5 – 7 Elkanah House

U11 Oakhill 56 – 0 CBC St. Johns

U13 Oakhill 0 – 28 Elkanah House

U13 Oakhill 68 – 20 CBC St. Johns

After an eventful day on the rugby field our boys headed to DHL Newlands, where they got a taste of true competitive rugby at its bests. The Classic Clash between the Western Province and Blue Bulls in the first Currie Cup matches, made for some great excitement. And as lots of moms and dads sat glued to the television at home to spot their rugby superstars, our boys experienced true rugby spirit in a festive atmosphere. No wonder these boys came back with such big smiles and broad shoulders. What a way to end off this exciting rugby season. Well done boys! You made us extremely proud and we look forward to seeing your continuous effort on the sports field.
